.:Layers:.
In animationish there are two layers, the foreground and background. these layer become increasingly important when you start to work with, key frames and having more then two characters moving at once. I didn't use key frames in my animation but i watched everyone else struggling with having two things moving in the foreground. The problem was that if both characters were in the foreground , they were linked in a way so when one moved the other did as well, but not in the way you want. the other character would be pushed off the screen by the other. The way they over came this was by moving one character to the background, moving it there while the other character remains in the foreground, moving there. For my first scene, my arctic fox was in the foreground and the outside view of the penguins igloo was the in the background. for the second scene my penguin was in the foreground and the background was of the inside of the igloo and the light fixture. you can't import more then one picture into either the fore ground or the back ground bu you can draw in any number of things like my light fixture in the background.
